The Brief
Donegal Youth Service required a vibrant, accessible website to reflect its role as a leading youth organisation in the region. The goal was to create an online platform that communicates the wide range of supports, programmes, and services available to young people, parents, and professionals. The site needed to serve as an information hub, a contact point, and a digital space that reflects the energy and inclusivity of the organisation’s work.
The Approach
The design focused on building a welcoming and user-friendly website that caters to a diverse audience—primarily young people, but also parents, educators, and partner organisations. Clear menu structures, bold visuals, and engaging content help users explore key areas such as mental health, education, employment, and youth participation.
A strong emphasis was placed on accessibility, ensuring the site adheres to best practices in inclusive design. This included the use of high-contrast colours, readable fonts, alt text for images, keyboard navigation support, and mobile responsiveness—making the site usable for individuals of all abilities and devices. Each programme and service is presented with concise descriptions, eligibility details, and contact options. The site also features up-to-date news, events, and pathways for getting involved. Social media integration and secure enquiry forms ensure clear and open channels of communication.
The Result
The new website has strengthened Donegal Youth Service’s ability to connect with young people and their communities across the county. It provides a clear overview of available services, showcases the impact of the organisation’s work, and makes it easier for users to access support or participate in programmes. With its inclusive design, improved accessibility, and mobile-friendly layout, the site is a vital tool for engagement, outreach, and promoting youth development throughout Donegal.
