About this project

The Brief

I was approached by Donegal Treasurer Cieran Kelly to originally  create a separate supporters site for Donegal GAA but once him and the county board seen the design they wanted me to re-design their old site as well. The site was very large and required listing of fixtures and results.

My Approach

I began my process by reviewing the analytics of the old site and seeing which pages were popular and which ones were not. it became apparent very quick that the Fixtures and Results page accounted for over 90% of web traffic to the site.

Being an avid Donegal Fan I always found the way the fixtures and results listed on the old site confusing to navigate so I researched other counties in Ireland on how they accomplished it and came up with an easy and fast solution.

I also wanted to give more information on the teams as another thing I Found that it was extremely hard to find team pictures of all teams online.

An E-Commerce solution, base on wordpress was also added to the site in order for the County to sell fundraising products, including a Donegal Car Sticker I created.

The Result

The site launched in April 2018 in time for the championships. The site received lots of positive feedback on the new fixtures and results system I  created.  The sites visits and length users stay on for has increased by 30% from this time last year and the car stickers are selling well.

Letterkenny Web Design & Marketing Agency

Excellent service over the last five years from Spence Digital Agency. Designed our website for both desktops and mobile devices which grew to 3 mn page views in 2019 – down slightly in 2020 as a result of Covid-related restrictions on sport although the number of “new visitors still grew by 43%. Aidan and his team are also very responsive when we have any queries, require new graphics, want design changes that we cannot implement ourselves and in providing “help videos” that further our understanding of the site and how to maintain and update content. Overall, I cannot recommend Spence Digital Agency highly enough. John McEniff, PRO, Donegal GAA
